Smart home,
wired by an electrician.

The difference between a "smart home" that drops offline every Tuesday and one that just works — is what's behind the wall. Real neutral wires at every switch. Real Cat6 to every TV. Real conduit to the structured panel. We do the boring infrastructure so the apps actually work.

Why It Matters

A "smart home" is only as smart as the wiring behind the walls.

Smart switches need a neutral wire — pre-1985 Owensboro homes usually don't have one at the switch box. Without it, smart switches won't work at all. Wi-Fi smart bulbs work but cost 5–10× more and stop responding when someone hits the wall switch.

We do the wiring and the install — so the system actually works the way the brochure promised.

Pre-Wire (New Construction)

Cat6 home runs, in-wall conduit for HDMI, structured wiring panel, neutrals at every switch box. Costs almost nothing during framing — costs a fortune to retrofit.

Retrofit (Existing Homes)

We pull neutrals to switch boxes that don't have them. We add Cat6 from the network closet to TVs and offices. Most retrofits avoid major drywall damage.

System Selection

Lutron Caseta is the easiest. RadioRA 3 is the premium choice. We help you pick based on house size, budget, and how integrated you actually want to be.

Integration Coordination

For Control4, full Lutron RadioRA, or Crestron — we partner with local AV integrators and handle the electrical/wiring side cleanly.

FAQ

Smart home questions.

Why won't a smart switch work in my older home?
Almost always: no neutral wire at the switch box. Smart switches need constant low-voltage power to keep the radio alive — that requires a neutral. Pre-1985 homes typically only have hot and switch leg at switches. We pull a neutral from the closest junction, or recommend Lutron Caseta which doesn't require one for most fixtures.
Lutron vs. Wi-Fi smart switches — which is better?
Lutron uses its own ClearConnect radio with a small hub — way more reliable than Wi-Fi switches that fight for bandwidth and drop offline. The hub is one-time setup; switches just work. Wi-Fi switches are cheaper but you'll spend the savings on frustration.
Should I pre-wire my new build for smart home?
Yes, even if you don't plan to install smart anything for years. Pre-wire costs hundreds during framing — adding it later costs thousands. Minimum: neutrals at every switch, Cat6 to every TV and office, and a structured panel location.
Do you do Control4 or Crestron full integration?
We handle all the electrical and wiring scope, then partner with a certified Control4 or Crestron integrator for the programming. That keeps the cost reasonable and lets each trade focus on what it's licensed for.
Are smart switches safe and reliable long-term?
Yes, when wired correctly. UL-listed smart switches have the same safety profile as standard switches. Reliability comes down to the system: Lutron Caseta and RadioRA 3 are rock-solid. Generic Wi-Fi switches can drop offline. We recommend based on what we'd put in our own homes.
