Why It Matters Here

Ohio River Valley storms don't care about your fridge.

Owensboro sits in the path of straight-line winds, derechos, and the occasional ice storm. OMU and Kenergy do their best, but multi-day outages happen — usually at the worst possible moment.

A whole-home standby generator means your HVAC, fridge, freezer, sump pump, well pump, and Wi-Fi all stay online. The transfer switch detects the outage and starts the generator within 10 seconds — automatically. You don't drag out an extension cord. You don't lose a freezer of food. You don't get a hotel room.

10s

Auto Transfer Time

From outage detection to your house being back on. Hands-off.

$1,500

Avg. Outage Loss

Spoiled food, hotel costs, basement water damage from a dead sump pump.

22kW

Most Common Size

Whole-home Generac for a typical 2,500–4,000 sqft Owensboro home with central AC.

5%

Home Value Bump

Avg increase per Remodeling Magazine — and a real selling point in Daviess County.

Full Generator Scope

From load calc to annual oil change.

Whole-Home Standby Install

Generac, Kohler, or Briggs & Stratton — sized to your home. Pad, transfer switch, gas line tap, electrical tie-in.

Automatic Transfer Switch

Whole-home or critical-loads-only ATS. Senses outage, starts generator, switches power — all automatic.

Manual Interlock Kits

Budget option: portable generator + interlock at the panel. Roughly 1/4 the price of a whole-home install.

Gas Line Coordination

We coordinate with Atmos or your propane supplier for the right gas line size — generators are gas-hungry.

Generator Repair

Diagnostics, controller replacement, battery, transfer switch repairs. Most makes and models.

Annual Maintenance

Oil, filter, plug, load test, transfer switch exercise. Manufacturer warranties require it — we make it easy.

FAQ

Generator questions.

Generac, Kohler, or Briggs — which brand?
All three are solid. Generac has the largest dealer network and parts availability — that matters when you need a part on a Saturday after a storm. Kohler runs quieter and is built better but costs more. Briggs is the budget play with a 10-year warranty. We recommend based on your home, budget, and how loud the unit can be next to a neighbor.
Natural gas, propane, or diesel?
Natural gas if your home is on Atmos service — runs forever during an outage with no refueling. Propane is great for rural Daviess/Hancock/Ohio County where there's no natural gas. Diesel is rare for residential — usually only for large rural setups.
How loud is it?
A 22kW Generac is about 65–67 dB at 23 feet — quieter than a window AC unit. Inside the house with windows closed, you barely hear it. We site it carefully relative to bedrooms and neighbor property lines.
Does it need to run weekly?
Yes. The unit auto-runs a 5–12 minute exercise cycle once a week (you pick the day and time) to keep the battery charged, oil circulated, and components ready. You can mute it or schedule it for midday when you're at work.
Permit and inspection?
Both required and both included. We pull the electrical permit, the gas permit (or coordinate with the gas plumber), and meet the inspector on site.
Do you service generators others installed?
Yes. Annual maintenance, repairs, controller replacements, battery swaps, transfer switch issues — for any brand, regardless of who installed it.
