Electrical service &
panel upgrades
— for the next 30 years.

Older Owensboro homes were built for a TV, a fridge, and a furnace fan. They were not built for an EV, a hot tub, two A/C units, and a kitchen full of induction. We bring your service entrance and panel up to current code and current life.

Signs You Need This

7 reasons your panel might be undersized.

01

Breakers trip when you run two big appliances

Microwave + space heater + hair dryer = pop. That's an under-sized circuit on an under-sized service.

02

You still have a fuse box

Pre-1965 homes often have screw-in fuses. Not safe, not insurable, and can't handle modern loads.

03

Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel

Two brands flagged by insurers and inspectors as fire hazards. Should be replaced regardless of size.

04

You want to add an EV charger or hot tub

A 50A EV circuit + a 50A hot tub eats 100A — and a 100A panel can't safely add either.

05

Lights flicker when the AC kicks on

Voltage sag on heavy loads = service or main feeder is undersized for your demand.

06

Burning smell or hot panel cover

Stop everything. Call us. Loose lugs, failing bus bars, and overheated breakers cause house fires.

07

No empty breaker slots

If you can't add a circuit because the panel is full — or worse, full of double-tapped breakers — it's time.

Not sure if it's time?

We do free panel inspections — load test included. We'll tell you straight whether it can wait.

What We Do

Full service entrance work, in-house.

Main Panel Replacement

100A → 200A or 400A. Square D, Eaton, Siemens, or whatever fits the budget. Full circuit migration and labeling.

Meter Base & Mast

Old or damaged meter base, weatherhead, service mast — replaced and re-strapped to current code.

Sub-Panels

Garage, shop, basement, addition, pool equipment pad — feed and install fresh sub-panels for new loads.

Federal Pacific & Zinsco Removal

Both brands have known fire risk. We remove and replace, document for your insurer, and return power same-day.

Surge Protection

Whole-home Type 2 surge protection at the panel — guards every device on every circuit.

Generator Interlock / Transfer

Add a manual interlock or automatic transfer switch as part of the panel upgrade — saves a second trip.

FAQ

Panel upgrade questions.

How long is my power off during the upgrade?
Typically 4–8 hours for a 100A → 200A upgrade. We coordinate the disconnect/reconnect with the utility (Owensboro Municipal Utilities or Kenergy), and your power is back the same day in 95% of cases.
Do I need a permit?
Yes — service upgrades require a permit and inspection in Daviess County and the City of Owensboro. We pull the permit, schedule the inspector, and meet them on site. You don't lift a finger.
Will my insurance go down after replacing a Federal Pacific panel?
Often yes — and many insurers won't cover a home with FPE or Zinsco at all. We provide documentation (license, permit, inspection card) you can send straight to your agent.
Do I need 200A or 400A?
200A handles a typical 2,500–4,000 sqft home with one EV, A/C, range, and water heater. Go to 400A if you have all-electric heat, two EVs, a hot tub, a workshop, or a detached building. We do the load calc on the free visit and tell you straight.
Can I finance it?
Yes. We offer financing through our finance partner — approval typically in minutes, fixed monthly payments, no prepayment penalty.
